(Movie) Jurassic World: Dominion

 

I had seen this at my Regal in the Oviedo Mall.

I still remember the first Jurassic World when it came out. It was a good movie but it suffered from the same narrative issue that Star Wars Force Awakens had; It was the same (or extremely similar) story as the original. I liked Jurassic World, the sequel though, I heavily disliked. They had some decent concepts that are horribly executed and as a result it made me end up leaving the theater ranting about how bad it was. So, when I had originally seen the trailer for Dominion, I knew, it was going to be even worse. Universal Studios did not fail on delivering a movie that is rivaling Morbius for a Razzie. 

However, this movie is not all bad. The CG was something to behold. Also, they used practical effects wherever they could and that is something to not take for granted. So, there is an appreciation for them not taking shortcuts and it does add something to an otherwise poor movie. 

    The weakest aspect of this movie is the writing. If I were put in charge of the story for this new trilogy I would have steered clear of the cloning aspect and focused more on the idea of creationism but, Ridley Scott did the same with Alien: Covenant and that had less than stellar results, so what do I know? The most redeeming piece of writing in this movie is that Dr. Henry Wu gets a character arc which was unexpected but, welcomed.  

    Even though this is a bad movie I can see it being a fun movie to goof around and watch with friends maybe with a drink or two.
